If Hamas succeeds in taking control of Gaza, a government built on the destruction of Israel will have been born. Extremist groups like Kach are banned and illegal in Israel. the 1985 loss states " A candidates' list shall not participate in elections to the Knesset if its objects or actions, expressly or by implication, include one of the following: (1) negation of the existence of the State of Israel as the state of the Jewish people; (2) negation of the democratic character of the State; (3) incitement to racism. " The PA should make Hamas illegal on similar grounds. If they do not have the political muscle to do so, they might require help from other Arab countries or from the UN. If the majority of the people in Gaza, however, decide that an organization committed to Islamist domination of the entire Middle East, and even Spain, best represents them, then the entire world will be in danger. if Khalid is right, and the PA sees Hamas as a complement, and not an opponent, then I'm afraid the only endgame will be all out war. I hope he is wrong.
