Suspension for 'unbecoming behavior' would require the support of 90 MKs and would be for a period set by the Knesset House Committee.19:21 08.02.16 | 0 comments
On the one hand, Israel is a secular Jewish democracy. Because of this, there should be some separation between synagogue and state, and if people want to march in Jerusalem then they should have the right to march. Still, the choice of Jerusalem as the place for the gay pride parade begs many questions. Why Jerusalem, when the parade's organizers should know they will be offending the community there and three major religious faiths? I think there is a hint of truth to the accusation that the gays are merely looking to taunt the religious, whether these religious are Jewish, Muslim, or Christian. You have Tel Aviv, so why not respect the sensibilities of others and leave Jerusalem alone? Maybe they will then agree to leave you alone in return.
