Dr. L Brnd calls the Obama regime inept, whilst Mark Lincoln says it is deaf, blind and impotent in the face of Netanyahu's obstructive tactics. Neither mention the real cause of the problem which is the decades-long refusal of Abbas, his predecessors and his external backers to act in good faith, let alone have their people refrain from murderous onslaughts on Jews in general and Israel in particular. This result of age-old hatred, going back to pre-Islamic times, means that until the West Bank, and indeed the whole Arab world, rejoins the human race there cannot be peace. And even if Abbas were willing to genuinely talk preace he fears to share the deadly fate of Anwar Sadat, at the hands of his own people. As a first step the West needs to make a concerted effort to halt the flow of armaments to the Arab world and as a second step to overcome the reliance on Arab oil. Then they MIGHT just take notice and begin slowly to modify the intransigent and unreasonable patterns of thought that lead to continuous war on outsiders and even internecine war.
