Since Halakha is not an English word, its transliteration into English may take various forms. There is the "common folk" form which you use. I used the scholarly "convention" for transliteration. Since English K is derived from Hebrew Kaph (thru Greek Kappa), the convention is to transliterate Hebrew Kaph into K. Now you get my spelling, which is actually superior to the common one because non Hebrew -speakers will not pronounce the ch as they do in the word China.
