Leibowitz' type of rationalistic thinking, albeit not completely logical and definitely too original to be called traditional, is possibly the only way out of the obscurantism and idiocy that Orthodox Judaism (Litvishe, Chasidishe, Sephardic, Yemenite, etc.) has become (as many Orthodox Jews will admit themselves). He is mainly praised or reviled for his leftists political positions, yet it is his religious thought that is a true legacy that needs to be explored and debated by anybody who cares about the continuity of the Jewish people as a nation and not as an amalgamation of various Jewish parties and sects.
