I would also like to thank a kindly german manager at IG Farben who gave bread to his Jewish slave labourers, at great personal risk, helping to save the lives of fifteen inmates at Auschwitz III (Monowitz), including one of my distant cousins. Before this, a polish baker, a former neighbour, allowed him to sneak out of the ghetto and grab loaves of bread to feed his family, again, at great personal risk. Thanks to these two brave, kind people (and to a good deal of luck) he survived.
