Streisand doesn't know the first thing about what life is like for women in Israel religious or secular she reads a couple of headline stories about isolated incidents as a result of a handful or radicals on both sides. Women of the Wall are an American feminist movement waging a war on orthodox Judaism which they believe is oppressive toward women and feminist movements rely on big stunts to get noticed and gain support. Go out and do something which they know will provoke the religious and when they retaliate they come out of it looking like the victims and people support them. Whilst most are ok there are some radical haredi but the media is not interested in the majority who just go about their day-day lives but when there is just 1 incident carried out by radicals well then the whole lot of them are the same and they all oppres women etc. Americans like Streisand who live in their own little American bubble read about these isolated incidents and assume thats the way it is for all Israeli women. Liberla / reform Judaism is the largest group in AmerIca they see orthodox judaism where there are different roles for men & women to play and they are not allowed to do the same things during prayer services somebody like Streisand read it as oppression. She may mean well I do not know but if she does she is misguided about life in the real Israel not the Israel that she reads in the media.
