In 1948 under the UN sponsored partition plan we were given a small amount of land. Our Arab neighbors did not accept this partition and sent in their armies to slaughter us and destroy our new state. We were not "given" any additional land. We fought for it, we bled for it and we won our war. Those Arabs who did not heed the voice of their corrupt leaders and did not flee live here today in Israel, a democracy, with the full rights as citizens. We once again suffered through a war forced on us by our neighbors in 1967. Once again we mourned our dead and waited for our neighbors to discuss peace. What did we get , the three no's at Khartoum. Jordan and Egypt turned its back on the Palestinians. In 1994 we signed the Oslo agreements which have the Palestinians limited self rule. We even allowed them to bring back the terrorist Yasir Arafat to rule over them. What did we get. Suicide and car bombs. Over a thousand Israeli civilians killed or maimed. In 2000 Arafat could have got 90% of his demands. He walked away. Today we still sit and discuss peace. The Palestinians still make outrageous non negotiable demands. If we were grateful to be given a country which was not exactly as much as we would of liked why aren't the Palestinians just as grateful to get 90% of their demands in exchange for their state. There is more than enough for both our people's to live in peace with each other.
