Kristol's answer was to the question "what if there is no peace?" He said the status quo would have to continue until the Palestinians would agree to peace and a subsequent 2 state solution. I was at the debate and that is what I heard. I have no doubt that, whenever peace comes, Israel will withdraw, forcibly if necessary, those settlements that the peace agreement will require, just as they did ifrom Gaza and also when the Sinai was returned to Egypt. I am a liberal leftist, and I feel that Ben-Ami was trying to frighten American Jews with the threat that there will be a "one state" solution that will emerge if there is no immediate withdrawal. There is no evidence for this fear.
