The individual can always make his own choices, that's a very fundamental ability of a human being. But the result of some choice may be that he (or his children) are not Jewish any more. I have deep respect for both orthodox and reformist Jews (being neither of them). But I see that reformist ideology leads to fast assimilation in a generation or two. I think the solution should come from more traditional movements like "dati leumi".
