It is well proven by now that nothing hinders peace progress like giving Abbas something for nothing. Then, instead of delivering on his end, he just adds a demand for something else, some additional "gesture". Israel should not make any more unilateral concessions without getting something of equal value in return. Cessation of all settlement building? OK - how about one of these from Abbas: 1) Cessation of Kassams and all other terrorism, 2) renunciation of "Arab Right of Return" to Israel, 3) acknowledging that the outcome of negotiations will be "An Arab State and a Jewish State" (the original UN formula). THE REAL PROBLEM -- Abbas is totally incapable of reciprocating with anything. Since he can't (and won't) deliver on "Land for Peace" or "2 states for 2 peoples", why give him land at all? Maybe as a substitute for Har Homa suspension, Israel should agree to suspend all Jewish settlement building in Gaza. "But Israel already gave up Gaza for ZERO in return!" That's the point.
