Dear Fresh look, Thank you for your reply. I am glad you hold the opinions of the common man in the same high esteem as I do. It is the font of democracy. Those who ignore it are at best guilty of authoritarianism. However, I didn?t quite understand why you were so keen to trash the evidence of a groundswell movement in favour of the Palestinians. The vote at the UCU of 158 to 99 seems like a majority in favour of sanctions against Israel to me. Anyway, I followed up on the evidence you cited from the Pew Research Centre, and basically what you say about the support of Americans for Israel holds up. Yes, the common man in the US favours Israel. I wasn?t surprised. I wasn?t surprised either by the fact that public opinion in other countries across the globe generally favours the Palestinians. In Europe only one country has a pro Israeli voter higher than the Palestinians and that was Germany (37% : 18%). France recorded 38:38, and Great Britain (24:29) and Spain (9:32) both favoured the Palestinians. My premise holds true, there is groundswell public support for the Palestinians. Here is the website so you can check it out: http://pewresearch.org/pubs/39/the-us-publics-pro-israel-history As democratic sovereignty lies with the people, it is time global politicians reflected the support that exists for the Palestinians, who after all are desperately trying to throw off a tyrannical Occupation. By the way, why do you support something that is so blatantly oppressive? Is it not time to look at the facts afresh? Regards.
