Cute trick, counting "potential" lives killed by apartheid South Africa supplied nuclear know-how by israel. Let's do some more potential counting then, shall we? How about 6 million potential Israeli lives (and another couple of million collateral Palestinian) when iran potentially sends a potential A-bomb Israel's way. As for your first "point," Iran's political repression far outdoes anything in U.S. or its "closest ally" -- not sure if you mean Britain or israel, but it doesn't matter. This is evidenced not only by the number of people the iranian regime has actually killed (bahais, jews, dissidents, heretics, political opponents etc.) but by the harsh application of sharia law, resulting in severe beatings for any infractions. (see the picture in wikipedia of the example of hodood punishment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Revolution). Finally, it's well known iranians, unlike US UK or Israel, would love their regime to vanish from the pages of time.
