The adversary cannot be thought of as freedom fighters since they use tactics of terror. Even among themselves, even within their own group, they use terror. Furthermore, the term "freedom fighter" has no legal meaning. It is purely political. The term "blood on their hands" has no legal meaning either. It is a term used by the Israeli authorities to distinguish those who have committed or planned acts of terror from others.
