I do hope you come to see peaceful coexistence as possible... How else can it happen if we do not believe in it (no matter how unrealistic)? On the civilian vs. soldiers, the numbers don't reflect the amount of civilian targeting by each side. Any good study includes the variables. In this case Hizb civilians acted as militia from civilian locations (their villages) & so militia were counted as civilian & civilians were located closer to the action than in Israel. Also, critically, Israelis had countless shelters to shield them vs Lebanese. Consider that Israeli Arabs had built less shelters for themselves (didn't expect to be targets) & their #s were unfortunately higher. (New policies are in place to increase their shelters even though they are local community controlled.) So obviously its more involved to determine than straight number counts. Israels internal policy was no to target civilans regardless of their success at that. (Solders I know in the fighting told me that)
