Hello to the Londoner! I can explain. You are surely unfamiliar with the concept, but Israel is a democracy with mostly free speech. So Israeli newspapers can legally say things that might perhaps make government leaders look bad. You may have noticed this from the USA. Often US media try to make the US President look bad precisely when he is in delicate negotiations with foreign nations, when patriotism should get them to appear as a united front. You may have observed this happening in the USA in the last week or two. Israel is utterly dependent on new US weapons for her survival. Israelis brag that their technicians make variations on those weapons which are improvements and the USA needs Israel for new weapons. But if Israel was not there those technicians would work for US companies in the USA where they were trained. But some Israelis insist they have complete sovereignty and do not need to accept any US demands. Who is right? Maybe we will know in a few months.
