"It is a strategy for losers. What is the gain in striking at the civilian population in order to punish Hamas? This is exactly what Hamas wants you to do. This increases their support" How right you are. Wouldn't you think that Israel would realise that the more the Gazans suffer, the more they will support Hamas and hate Israel? It's human nature to do so. When Nazi Germany bombed London every night during WW2, the Londoners didn't turn against their government, they blamed the ones doing the bombing. Same thing with Gaza...Israel is cutting off their life supports, not Hamas. And that's how the Palestinians will see it. Of course, if Israel only wants revenge for the Kassams, then it's perfect. But if Israel would like to try for a lasting peace, it's a losing strategy to punish the collective Gazan population for the actions of a few.
