The Syrian army is rapidly closing in on the rebels who are in control of the city, leaving a narrow corridor through which civilians are escaping on foot; Russian and Iranian support are tipping the balance in Assad's favor.01:04 06.02.16 | 1 comments
We are a very new nation. Most of our years have been spent at war. In the 50's & 60's Israel was severly short of food, clothes, money, shelter and the banks were almost "middle ages". In the 70's we rationed food and introduced TV. In the 80's we began building amidst a Palestinian civil uprising and in the 90's we started on the paths of peace and some prosperity. Today we lead the world in high tech and medical research. So if you are young today things like pensions and savings are real and possible. The survivors amongst us who helped build our nation (along with many other seniors) lived without the benefits of modern world pensions. We are not a wealthy nation - so govn't funds are small, govn't pensions are ridiculously inadequate and most children support their aged parents. Germany gave tremendous sums of money to Israel for the survivors. That Olmert lives the life of king while tossing a few pitas to the survivors is simply inexcusable. So Yes we know!
