D: "since it is consistent with un 242 for israel to wait until the arab states recognise israel before withdrawing. Israel has no reason to withdraw, as most arab states do not recognise Israel." I said each was *AS CONSISTANT* with Res 242 as the other, not that either policy was acceptible. You are claiming that Israel can simply sit on that land into infinity in the absence of a negotiated settlement; 40 years and counting..... How much longer, Duncan? Another 40 years? A century? A millenia? Because you do understand the implications of your argument: that it is actually in Israel's interests NOT to seek any peace at all, in the event that it believes that peace can not be negotiated on terms that advantage her and disadvantages the Palestinians. Where does that leave Israel's obligations under Res 242, Duncan, if she insists on "never missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity" for peace, because it isn't the peace that she insists upon?
