First, I totally reject the underlying assumption in your post, namely, that the issue raised here is in any way comparable to what the Nazis had perpetrated during WWII. Such comparisons are despicable, and they tend to obfuscate any points made. This comparison only repels those that otherwise might be open to a discussion on the merits. Second, as you well know, Wiesenthal was acting as a detective, hunting down known Nazi war criminals in hiding. He had no authority to bring them to justice, and often the people that he did find still escaped justice.
