I think that you underestimate the effect on Israeli civilian morale of missile strikes on cities and ignore the possibility of a radiation leak at Dimona. However, your argument is that an Israeli attack on Iran would be successful but for the US and the rest of the oil-consuming world, a disaster. If the Americans agree with you, they will do *whatever it takes* to prevent such an attack, even if it involves economic or military sanctions against Israel. Logically, that would be by far the lesser evil.
