B: "Why should Israel be the one to give something up and get nothing in return?" The answer is pretty simple, B: it is because what Israel is being asked to "give up" is something that doesn't belong to her in the first place. It is something that she seized, back in 1967. Do you have kids, B? Imagine if two of your children have a fight, and the bigger kid grabbed a toy off the smaller kiddie. The smaller child can not take it back - he's too scrawnie, and if he tries the bigger sibling will simply hit him again. So he asks you to get it back. Now, under those circumstances, B, would you insist that there be a SWAP, or would you tell the elder kid that "No, it's not yours, so give it back"???? Because, to be honest, this is exactly how Israel is behaving; a spoilt bully who is insists everthing is his, and the USA is like a parent who is pandering to that brat because it doesn't want to deal with the inevitable tantrums.
