Jeremy, you are wrong, Israel IS obliged to act against its "wishes" because: 1) its wishes are against international law; and 2) it is US financial, political and military support which enables Israel to continue to exist and to continue to act in defiance of international law. Therefore the US has every right to insist that the aid which it provides to a client state is used in accordance with international law as well in a way that does not harm US interests. If Israel is not happy with these terms, it is quite welcome to refuse US aid and to stand on its own 2 feet. Ever heard of "he who pays the piper calls the tune"?
