Child molestation charges frequently don't come out for years or even decades. Not to mention the fact that he no longer seems to be working in a field that gives him quite so many opportunities. Also, you might want to look at the violence stats at Rikers Island. Cruel and unusual punishment doesn't apply. The criminal justice system has two main goals, and one secondary. First is removal of a threat from society (and if the original allegations are true, he *is* a threat; the fact that no new allegations have surfaced is hardly evidence that he's cured), second is punishment. The third, less important goal is rehabilitation. But even if someone is already rehabilitated, there is reason to punish criminals. If nothing else, it's a deterrent to *future* criminals; they know they can't pretend to change their ways, and get away with their crimes.
