israel's accomplishments have begun to be overshadowed by the greed reflected in it's occupations and encroaching settlements, along with the injustice, displacement, and severe oppression that they spawn. and while the idf once stood as a great military organization, it has lost it's luster. no longer is it a powerful and homogenous entity with a common goal of protecting an ideal. it has been infiltrated by those of lesser motives and morals, whose FIRST loyalty is to the things i've mentioned above. "S", over 1/3 of the idf's officers and enlisted have essentially made this clear, and this number is destined to increase the longer the problem is left unchecked; and so too will incidents that are labeled "war crimes".... because many of them, if not most, are representative of that often exhibited settler mentality that's led to the negative characterization of all settlers, and who harbor very deep hatred, animosity, and resentment towards the palestinians. i made a post here http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1118001.html post #29 that i ask you to read, if you haven't already. it which outlines what i suspect "may" have provided the circumstances for these baser sentiments to be acted upon during the gaza invasion. i DO NOT fault you for your pride and your faith in the idf, "S"... but i DO question your refusal to acknowledge that it's got serious problems that need to be fixed, because they'll get progressively worse if they're not... lest there come the day your pride wanes as faith fades into the sting of shame.
