I strongly disagree that without diaspora Jewry there would be no Israel. Without Israel there would be an oppressed diaspora. While the United States is allied to Israel now in its war of Independance with the Arabs it was mostly European(french) weapons Israel used to defend itself and this trend continued for sometime. No US military let alone Canadian military interviened when Arab armies attacked Israel in their many wars. The only reason Europe hasn't started another all out holocaust again is because it knows that Israel will not stand for it so instead they show their anti-semitism more subtely (boycott of Israel etc.). I don't see Canada as a supporter of Israel in fact it seems Canada has been very supportive of Israel's enemies (Palestinians). So All this diaspora lobbying their govern favour for Israel has really done little to help Israel. Mutual interests between America and Israel is why the relationship is so Strong and God willing remain that way.
