The US and Israel is like bread and butter - either one would not be as palatable without the other. Israel is America's staunchest ally in the Middle East and vice versa; so much so that the former Malaysian premier remarked that Israel let the others fight its wars (the others are led by the US of course). In view of the alarming circumstances in the Mid East, it is unthinkable for Israel to be more 'independent'. America loves big brother roles even thousands of kilometres away... in Taiwan, Europe through NATO, Japan, Korea Rep. It's as if we have all inherited a "Bonaparte" among our midst - what choice do countries have?! America is not a strategic liability to Israel (for now) because i do not foresee any one country in the Mid East region consistently demonstrating the moral commitment to the only respectable people in all the world - the Jews. I say "respectable" because Judaism is the only religion that truly unifies people - all races. Israel is The Beacon.
