"when Israel offered to return the WB, Gaza, and Golan in 1967/8 in return for peace, when the Arab countries said NO, NO, NO; I have to assume that`s what they meant. And that they REALLY didn`t want peace as much as to destroy the PRE-1967 Israel." Polybios, While I am unaware of the peace offer you speak of in 1967/8, I can tell you are dead wrong about the Arabs not wanting peace. Indeed if anyone could be accused of being out to destroy anyone that finger should point to Israeli officials who rejected one peace proposal after another (see below) and went on building illegal settlemnents on Palestinian land and populating them with foreigners and gypsies from all over the world. How atrocious and unjust.Dutch P.S. The peace proposals made by the Arabs or on their behalf -- Israeli officials either rejected or undermined. To think the US patriot Ben Franklin said :"There was never a good war or a bad peace" The Rogers Plan (1969), The Scranton Plan on behalf of President Nixon (1970); Sadat's land for peace mutual recognition proposal ( 1971); Carter's call for a Geneva International Conference (1971); Suadi King Fahd's peace offer (1981);The Reagan Plan (1982); The Baker Plan (1989); A continuation of the Taba negotiaytions (2001) The unofficials Geneva Peace Initiative of Nov/Dec 2003. And in 1993 Arafat signed the Oslo Accord ( which unraveled after Rabin's assasination in (1995) and the return of the Likud party to officice. 22 Arab states proposed a comprehensive peace initiative based on the Syrian initiative (2002); Syrian peace initiative 2003; plus Syria's initiative to start peace negotiations 2004 and of course the Road- map to Peace which its many roadblocks and detours & now doused with formaldehyhe by Sharon's and his underminers in the government. It's all so shameful....Dutch
