The US doesn't need to veto it unless its a very last resort. If this is going to the Security Council all the US needs to do is recomend against it and say they insist on a negotiated settlemtns ( in practicallity is the only thing that can work anyway ) and he will get the Europeans will vote against backing the palestinian demand. The General Assembly might be waighted in the palestinians favour but the Security Council where the US is king most of them would take Israels side on this issue and also insist they will only vote to support a state in borders that have been agreed on with Israel through negotiation. Palestinians would be doing themselves more harm than good if they asked the Security Council to vote on a non negotiated solution. Israel has nothing to worry about.
