... those of us who are critical of Obama are critical because Obama shifted US policy towards publicly blaming Israel for the lack of progress towards peace. Yet at the same time he refuses to blame the Palestinian leadership for their total intransigence and refusal to even negotiate without pre-conditions ... That is unfair and an inaccurate portrayal of even very recent history in which Abbas ignored Olmert's peace offer which involved land offsets from Israel proper in exchange for the main settlement blocks that Israel wants to keep ... That deal would have resolved the issue of the settlements and it would have ended the "occupation". Why did Abbas ignore it? And why does Obama ignore that very recent history? Why is he only pressuring Israel (publicly) and not Abbas? It seems to me that he intends to make Israel appear to be the villain in order to appease the Arab/Muslim world, at the expense of Israel ... And to those people who claim that it's in America's interest to get closer to the Arab/Muslim world at the expense of it's ally in the Middle East (Israel), I urge them to look how things worked out just before WW2 when the West in it's dubious wisdom decided to sacrifice Cheslovakia in order to appease Nazi Germany ... By the way, rest assured that Israel will NOT allow itself to become another Cheslovakia and rest assured that the consequent results will not end up pleasing anyone because there won't be ANY winners, everyone will lose. That's where Obama's current policies are steering history ...
