When a majority of Palestinians voted for Hamas in early 2006, they knew the party was Islamist, and did not recognise Israel. They did not expect the world to ostracise them just because Israel demanded "recognition" from a captive people. That could come later when Israel, as part of an agreement, also recognised Palestine. The demand by Israel and the others seems racist and supremacist to me. What difference does recognition make to Israel's existence? Did Egypt recognise Israel before an agreement was on the cards? There is no reason why the Quartet could not have engaged Hamas out of respect for the wishes of the very people whose liberation is sought. It is hell as a non-white people suffering under White-supremacist occupation.
