The Venice community commemorates the 500th anniversary of the world’s first ghetto with events that include the U.S. Supreme Court justice in a production of Shakespeare’s ‘The Merchant of Venice.’13:06 08.02.16 | 1 comments
I was intrigued and fascinated by idf_sergeant's comments that Megiddo is a military base holding Palestinian prisoners- but even more so after glancing at the beautiful web pageidf_sergeant set up which pops up under the name "ARMAGEDDON" http://home.comcast.net/~advent99/tell.html. The web page is visually perfect, simple, evocative really, deftly and tastefully combining archeology with a glimpse at natural beauty amid weathered ruins, made all the more interesting by intriguing bits of stories about our ancient past- but nary of glimpse of the reality today. Megiddo's history includes the ugly reality of prisoners detained right now and who knows, possibly even tortured- Palestinian prisoners held by Israel- accused of being terrorists. No one can white wash the truth forever. Just as the conflict and supposed clash of civilizations is a modern man made war, so too will its end be found in what we the people say and do. It is imperative that we act with honor and integrity, defending real justice (and the Golden Rule) by doing all we can to help make sure that all the Palestinians refugees are welcomed home with full and equal rights, including the right to live in peace.
