D: "If it takes a thousand soldiers to evacuate 2 settlers as happened recently, it would take 250 million soldiers to evacuate 500,000 settlers. Israel has not got that many soldiers." And it *hasn't* occured to you that this was stage-managed *exactly* to send that unsubtle propaganda message? The IDF can snatch two vastly more dangerous and unwilling "militants" from a vastly more hostile Nablis - and ship them to Israel - with two jeeps and a helicopter, Duncan. It doesn't require thousands of soldiers to do THAT serious work, and Israel used thousands of soldiers against two settlers because it wasn't serious work; it was a STUNT. Look at the settlements in the Sinai, Duncan; the settlers KNEW the game was up, they KNEW the Begin govt was determined, and they KNEW that if they insisted on staying then they would lose. So they left. The settlers in the WB make a fuss precisely because they know Olmert is bluffing i.e. that he WANTS an excuse not to remove them.
