At best, I think, Bush is in for a wake up. I suspect he'll pressure Olmert and Abbas to make concessions to each other. But I don't think he has any appreciation of the dynamics of either society. The Israeli people may be ready for starting a real peace process. But the Olmert government is not. This is despite the fact the Palestinians are in a low level civil war over the issue. Olmert cannot even get agreement within his cabinet for principles for defining a future border. Bush also has no appreciation of the risk Abbas has taken in starting the Palestinian civil war. He has lost control of a large part of his territory already and about a third of his population. I think you're wrong about the Saudis. Their interest is in emasculating their own internal dissent, not the destruction of Israel.
