Yaakov--the heartfelt ethical gravity of your comments are mismatched against my comment that was merely flippant. I think it is no secret that this is, if anything, a cultural rather than a political or ideological issue. Israel has had a lot of "machismo" in its sexual self-image and sexual scandals involving intimidation of women are probably still somewhat distinctive there--these are tricky waters and who is to say overall what countries rank higher in overall sexual intimidation or violence against women but rather than worry about possibly unrelated political or ethical lapses you might concentrate on the flourishing sexual trade in often captive women.
