"environment of dependency in which Gaza has relied on Israel for their basic needs." My eyes are watering with tears in view of Israel's mercy and generosity. Perhaps a few facts will help me regain my composure. 1) As an occupying power, Israel was obligated to provide basic needs of the occupied population. 2) Israel delivered nothing for free. Guess who is most opposed to your suggestions: the Israeli companies who SELL electricity and fuel to the strip. 3) Why has the strip no own powerplant? Because Israel would not allow one to be constructed. 4) Why is the strip dependent on transportation across its borders with Israel? Because Israel prevented the construction of a sea port, destroyed Gaza's airport, and blocks the crossing to Egypt at will.

IfNotNow doesn’t deserve the support of left-leaning American Jews

IfNotNow and its co-founder Simone Zimmerman challenge U.S. Jews to end the occupation. But they won't answer this basic question: Do you support a Jewish and democratic state in Israel, alongside a Palestinian state? And if not, why not?
