And as one of many examples, Chomsky wrote in 2004 of Diego Garcia that "its inhabitants were expelled. The U.S. still refuses them the right of return, overruling decisions of the British courts; the issue is unknown in the U.S., much like the case of Okinawa" (Hegemony or Survival, p. 162). By the way, once you invoke international law it must be applied impartially to all states, not one or some selected few, or that law lacks legitimacy (Eisenberg, Nature of Common Law, 1988).
