DZ: "BBS, the US cannot make settlements illegal" No, it can not. It is not an internatioanl legislature, nor is it an international court. So it can not declare "Henceforth, This Activity Shall Be Illegal". It can, however, say this: "We believe this activitity to be illegal, and we will treat it accordingly". DZ: "only UNSC can" That is incorrect i.e. the UNSC can't MAKE anything illegal. It is no more an international legislature than is the USA, and it has no more pretense to being an international court that does the USA. All it can do is what the USA can do i.e. declare that "We believe this activitity to be illegal, and we will treat it accordingly". Now, Darthie, consider the situation that Israel would be in if *both* the USA and the UNSC made the same declaration i.e. "We believe that settlements are illegal, and we plan to do something about that." Would that be: 1) Cause for celebration in the Knesset 2) Very bad news indeed for Netanyahu.
