You are misinformed, or lying, about the Israel attack on the USS Liberty. The Johnson administration denied nothing: there were no accusations against US, accusations were against Israel, who said attack was case of mistaken identity. Senior US officers wanted to bomb Israel, and several resigned because that request was denied by Johnson. The Liberty was in international waters 14 miles off Sinai coast. Israeli recon plane flew 90 ft over the mast twice. Airman waved at US sailors. Ships bow had markings 10 feet tall AGTR-5. The designation listed ship in Jane?s Fighting Ships as US signal intelligence ship. Next came two waves of fighters strafing and rocketing. Then 3 torpedo boats arrived and machine gunned bridge and fired 40mm rounds at water line. They fired 5 torpedoes one of which killed 24 of the 39 crew members killed. In attempt abandon ship, life rafts were put overboard. Boats closed and machine gunned them, sinking them all. It was an act of war. Try it now.
