Israel was not "pushing" for a war against Iraq. It was such a high priority for the Bush Administration. As far as Bush was concerned it really was a litmus test for all our friends and allies. Israeli government was not inclined, and did not at that time have much of any basis to do anything other than what they did, which was actually fairly low key support. Israel was certainly not out in front on this. In America Jews are one of the groups with the highest opposition to Bush and his war.Even at the start suppport in the Jewish community for the invasion of Iraq was luk warm at best. there's no "jewish" position on Iraq. You can find well known members of the Jewish community on both sides of the issue. This is very clear. No doubt the way war in Iraq has turned out it has and will likely continue to be very bad for Israel.
