What an understatement! Well, the ceasefire between Fatah and Hamas sure didn`t last very long. It`s no big surprise though. If you ask a Palestinian to pronounce "ceasefire", it comes out as "Hudabaiyah Treaty". If you ask a Palestinian what an armistice is, he will answer "Hudabaiyah Treaty". And if you ask a Palestinian what a peace agreement means to him, he will answer "Hudabaiyah Treaty". For those who don`t know what a Hudabaiyah Treaty is, it is the name of a truce made between Mohammed (PBUH) and the Meccans when the Prophet (PBUH) found himself to be vastly outnumbered during one of his jihads. The treaty was violated by a tribe allied to the Meccans when they attacked a tribe allied to the Muslims. Mohammed (PBUH) returned to Mecca with a much larger army and conquered the place circa 630 A.D. So much for peace agreements in the Arab world. After Oslo, Arafat (MHRIH) made the comment that it was just a Hudabaiyah Treaty meaning that he felt free to violate the Oslo Accord
