that is he is a member of the Jewish people, and that would be his perception of himself! New comers to Israel often know enough Hebrew to integrate into society, especially those Jews coming from more traditional/religious background in which Hebrew has been used throughout the ages, although not as a daily spoken language for the most part. As a result, Hebrew is spoken by both parents and children. Actually, there is nothing to be sorry for. We have built a dynamic society here that incorporates all components of our Jewish people; a very unique society of which many people are envy.
