Bringing Hamas into the peace process is absolutely essential for a political solution to work. I do not understand why Fateh would choose to engage in a renewed 'peace process' from such a weak position. They should have at least a dialogue with Hamas to iron out their differences. This would of course greatly enhance the negotiating power of Fateh and their legitimacy in the eyes of the Palestinian people. I understand why Israel is keen to keep Hamas out of the whole process. The political Hamas leaders are tough negotiators and won't give anything away. They are much more formidable oppononents. Any neutral observer will see that nothing will work without the consent and cooperation from Hamas. Which makes me very sceptical regarding the true intentions of the Israeli government and the United States.
