Just because Israel didn't want to cooperate? Imagine where justice would be if ALL investigations were abandoned whenever one of their subjects refused to cooperate. Would justice even exist if that were the case? What the Goldstone report concluded is that there was ample evidence to indicate that war crimes had indeed taken place, and it called upon Israel to conduct an independent investigation into those incidents. Goldstone's disclaimer merely reflects the fact that Israel's cooperation may have alleviated the damning implications of their occurance by providing ITS inputs on the circumstances behind them. Israel refused to do that, just as it is refusing to conduct an independent investigation into those incidents; both of which can be perceived as a preference to subvert the truth. The Goldstone report is far LESS damaging to Israel than its own refusal to cooperate with it, acknowledge its credibility, and to implement its recommendations. You are blaming Goldstone's integrity and commitment to the ideals of justice for Israel's lack of the same. Israel consistently hides behind its claim that the U.N. perspective towards it is biased. But what it it fails to understand is that the world can discern between its "bias" and the "facts" that provide for its unfavorable attitude toward Israel. And its "bias" does NOT nullify those facts. This is why Israel has been strongly urged to comply with the report's recommendations of an independent inquiry even by the countries who did not officially endorse it; a clear indication that their objections are to the U.N. "bias", and not necessarily to the findings outlined in the Goldstone report. Real justice doesn't pick and choose when to close it's eyes, S. Surely you haven't been in Israel long enough to be completely comfortable with that?
