I seem to recall that Syria fought that war totally and completely upon Syrian soil. In fact, I BELIEVE the Syrian forces swept all the way to the edge of the Golan on that first day, and then....stopped. Stopped cold. How odd, hey? The Syrian weren't attacking with the intention of invading the territory of the State of Israel, but were attacking an army of occupation that was encamped on her sovereign territory and steadfastly refusing to leave. The attack has to be against your territory before you can claim that the other side is fighting a war of aggression against you. Syria wasn't doing that, and so the rights and wrongs of Syria's actions in 1972 are not as straightforward as you try to pretend.
