Yael Patir, Israel director of the left-leaning U.S. Jewish body, sat down with Haaretz to talk about Trump, the gap between U.S. and Israeli Jews, and the growing anger at the Israeli peace camp. Though she concedes boycott efforts by some on the left have a negative effect, she rejects calls to keep peace efforts local.01:12 01.05.16 | 4 comments
Although I find your motive for being here questionable there's absolutely nothing in what you say here that I disagree with. I was in Israel in the 60's when it was so full of promise and optimism, but I could see that the children were being made very aware of their History, where they had come from and the potential of the whole Human race to seek Racism as an outlet for domestic problems. I can't blame them for teaching Survival since I used to hear my Father GRS scream in his sleep as the dreams of imprisonment and losing his family penetrated my very being. I dislike Netanyahu, I abhor what Israel is becoming but I am not naive. Antisemitism is taught as a matter of course in Arab countries. They hate us..they hate Jews. You don't have to deal with this every day but even here in London it is rampant. I see no answer but perpetual War, because I know for sure a "Hudna" is the road to annhilation. You may even shed a tear next time round, but my family and I will be gone.
