Mary Hughes-Thompson:Your incredible ignorance merely reinforces your Israeli hatred. Most of the '48 Palestinian refugees who left did so in response to the demands of their leaders, who wanted to destroy the Jewish State without the presence of Palestinian Arabs to complicate the invasion by Egyptian,Jordanian,Syrian,Iraqi, and Lebanese forces and the usual band of "volunteers."That they were not able to prevent the creation of Israel is itself a miracle. But the establishment of the Jewish State has its origins in the Balfour Declaration of WW 1 recognizing a Jewish homeland in Palestine and the post WW 1 Allied agreements incorporating this recognition into the British Mandate over the present areas of Israel,Jordan,Gaza and West Bank, although Jordan was soon created as an Arab state free of Jews. However, I would agree that Jewish refugees from Arab countries should be compensated for their $100 billion forced to leave behind.
