Israel has not been able: to stop the qassams from Gaza; to suppress the militants in the West Bank; to expell the people she doesn't like from the land she is so passionate ahout; to achieve anythng more than a contiuous stalemate. Every time Israel uses force to settle an issue, she only makes the problem worse. Why? Because only Palestinians can stop Palestinians from extreme provocation of Israel. A strong, but moderate, Palestinian state is the only way these things can be accomplished. Abbas is moderate, not extremist. If Olmert can establish recognition for a moderate Palestinian state with the strength to control its own people, he will have done what Israeli's naked force cannot do. Olmert has made mistakes, yes, like any other human being. But on the whole he has done what his critics cannot do. So stop urinating on the one guy who has the savvy and guts to go for what is good for Israel!
