As stated at the time, it was a Russian Submarine that suffered a nuclear meltdown. Naturally its a contentious and somewhat lame excuse by the South African Government. South Africa, did have a number of nuclear weapons, however to some, most were handed over to the USA sometime in 1994. South Africa was also advanced in Chemical and Biological weaponry. South Africa still possess quite a large amount of weapons grade nuclear material. Attempts have been made in the past to steal said material, at least one known case was made public in 2009. Israel and South Africa were more involved in turnkey projects in the aviation field and command and control upgrading. The rest is pure fantasy, simply because South Africa had the resources and manpower for its own indigenous nuclear program. No doubt countries such as France and Germany were contributors. Good day.
