Yael Patir, Israel director of the left-leaning U.S. Jewish body, sat down with Haaretz to talk about Trump, the gap between U.S. and Israeli Jews, and the growing anger at the Israeli peace camp. No centre or left-of-centre party should join the government until Netanyahu opens meaningful negotiations with Abbas over reaching a 2-state settlement. Otherwise they will just serve as window-dressing for the same old rejectionist leadership. Netanyahu should be forced to face 2 options: either he becomes a determined peace-maker or he can present an even more extremist government to the world so that no-one can any longer be under any delusions over the path Israel is seeking to take, both domestically and in relation to the occupation.
